Role Description The PhD role in Energy Storage–Li-ion/Metal Battery, Catalysis, Electrochemistry, and Material Science is a full-time, on-site position based at the VIT-AP campus in Amaravati. The candidate will design and conduct experimental and/or computational research on advanced energy storage materials, electrochemical systems, and catalytic processes under the guidance of a faculty supervisor. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning experiments, fabricating and characterizing battery and electrode materials, performing electrochemical testing, analyzing data, and documenting results in lab notebooks and research reports. The role also involves reviewing scientific literature, preparing manuscripts for publication, presenting findings in seminars and conferences, and contributing to project proposals and funding applications. Participation in departmental activities, collaboration with other research groups, and mentoring of junior students or interns may also be part of the regular duties.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong foundational knowledge in electrochemistry, battery science (Li-ion/metal batteries), and catalysis.
- Candidates should possess skills in materials science, including synthesis, characterization, and structure–property analysis of functional materials.
- Candidates should possess proficiency in laboratory techniques relevant to energy storage research, such as electrode fabrication, cell assembly, and electrochemical testing (e.g., cyclic voltammetry, impedance spectroscopy).
- Candidates should possess competence in data analysis, use of scientific software tools, and interpretation of experimental results for publication-quality research.
- Candidates should possess effective written and oral communication skills for scientific writing, presentations, and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline is preferred.
- Prior research experience in energy storage, catalysis, or related areas, evidenced by projects, theses, or publications, is highly beneficial.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain high research ethics and integrity is essential.
