Role Description The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the hospital pharmacy, ensuring safe, accurate, and efficient dispensing of medications to inpatients and outpatients. This full-time, on-site role based in Salem includes managing pharmacy staff, supervising inventory control, monitoring medication storage and handling, and enforcing regulatory and hospital policies. The role involves reviewing and validating prescriptions, coordinating with physicians and nurses on medication therapies, and supporting immunization services where applicable. The Pharmacy Manager also develops and updates pharmacy procedures, ensures compliance with legal and accreditation standards, provides guidance and training to pharmacy technicians, and participates in quality improvement initiatives related to medication safety and cost-effective use of pharmaceuticals.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong knowledge of pharmacy, pharmacy practice, and hospital pharmacy operations.
- Candidates should possess skills in supervising and mentoring pharmacy technicians, including workload management and performance oversight.
- Candidates should possess expertise in prescription review, medication dispensing, and documentation with high attention to accuracy and safety.
- Candidates should possess understanding of immunization protocols and medication administration support within a hospital setting.
- Licensed Pharmacist with a Bachelor’s or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Prior experience in a hospital or clinical pharmacy management role is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of pharmacy regulations, controlled substances management, and adherence to national and local healthcare standards.
- Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary clinical teams.
- Proficiency in using hospital information systems and pharmacy management software, and commitment to continuous professional development.
