Role Description The Assistant Professor will be a full-time, on-site faculty member based in Politics of Chandigarh, with primary responsibilities in teaching, research, and service. Day-to-day tasks include preparing and delivering lectures, designing and updating course materials, guiding classroom discussions, and assessing student learning through assignments, exams, and projects. The role involves advising and mentoring students, supervising academic work such as term papers or theses, and maintaining regular office hours. The Assistant Professor is expected to conduct independent and collaborative research, seek publication in peer-reviewed outlets, and apply for research funding where appropriate. Additional responsibilities include participating in departmental meetings, serving on academic committees, contributing to curriculum development, and engaging in outreach or community-based initiatives aligned with the institution’s mission.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree (preferably a PhD) in Political Science, Public Policy, International Relations, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in university-level teaching, including course design, classroom instruction, and student assessment.
- Active research agenda with evidence of scholarly publications or strong potential for peer-reviewed research output.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to diverse learners.
- Commitment to inclusive, learner-centered teaching practices and the ability to work effectively with students from varied backgrounds.
- Ability to collaborate collegially with faculty and staff, contribute to departmental initiatives, and participate in academic governance.
- Organizational and time-management skills to balance teaching, research, and service responsibilities in a full-time on-site role.
- Interest or experience in the political context of Chandigarh or related regional studies is an asset.
