Key responsibilities
- Accurately dispense prescribed medicines as per doctor’s prescription.
- Verify dosage, drug interactions, and patient safety before dispensing.
- Educate patients on medication usage, dosage, side effects, and precautions.
- Provide guidance on over-the-counter (OTC) medicines.
- Check prescriptions for accuracy and legality.
- Coordinate with doctors in case of any discrepancies.
- Maintain stock of medicines and ensure availability.
- Monitor expiry dates and manage storage conditions.
- Follow regulatory guidelines and pharmacy laws.
- Maintain proper documentation of controlled substances.
- Label medications clearly with dosage instructions.
- Prepare compounded medications if required.
- Keep accurate records of prescriptions, sales, and inventory.
- Maintain billing and insurance documentation if applicable.
- Work with doctors and healthcare staff to optimize patient care.
- Provide drug-related information and recommendations.
Required qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy (D.Pharm / B.Pharm / Pharm.D)
Registration with State Pharmacy Council
Experience in hospital or retail pharmacy preferred
