Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Pharmacist role based in Chennai. The Pharmacist will dispense prescription and over-the-counter medications accurately, counsel customers on proper usage, side effects, and storage, and ensure all transactions comply with legal and regulatory requirements. Daily responsibilities include verifying prescriptions, maintaining accurate inventory records, monitoring stock levels, and supporting cold-chain and storage standards. The role also involves providing evidence-based guidance on generic and branded alternatives, promoting wellness and preventive care products, and maintaining clear documentation and billing. The Pharmacist will work closely with store staff to deliver safe, efficient, and customer-focused service aligned with MedPlus quality standards.
Qualifications
- Registered Pharmacist with a valid license and a Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) or Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm); advanced pharmacy qualifications are an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology, prescription interpretation, dosage calculation, and drug interactions, with a focus on patient safety and regulatory compliance.
- Experience in retail pharmacy operations, including dispensing, inventory management, billing, and adherence to standard operating procedures.
- Effective communication and customer service skills, with the ability to counsel diverse customers clearly and respectfully in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfort using pharmacy management systems and basic computer applications; ability to learn and adapt to new technology tools and processes.
- Attention to detail, reliability, and integrity in handling prescriptions, controlled medications, and confidential patient information.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, collaborate with store teams, and maintain professional conduct in line with MedPlus policies and ethical standards.
- Prior experience in large-format or chain pharmacies and familiarity with Indian drug regulations and standards will be beneficial.
