About the Department

Person County Government is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused professional to join the Mayo Park team as Admin Support. This position plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the park by providing administrative, programmatic, and customer service support.

This role works under the direct supervision of the Park Supervisor and is expected to maintain a high level of professionalism while supporting all aspects of park operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic, customer-facing environment.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record per County policy.


This is a non-exempt position.  Part-time employees cannot work more than 1000 hours per calendar year. 

Position Duties

The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

  • Provides general office administrative support as directed.
  • Performs routine office duties such as answering phones, disseminating messages, maintaining calendar, greeting and assisting the public, scheduling and coordinating meetings and data entry.
  • Responds to customers by providing routine information, answering questions and referring customers to appropriate resources.
  • Interpret a variety of rules and regulations in information on the Park’s programs and activities.
  • Operate a computer in generating correspondence, memoranda, notes, reports and other materials.
  • Screens and routes materials according to content of communication.
  • Maintains activity and record files.
  • Compiles and produces statistical reports on park programs and facility rentals.
  • Handles facility rentals in the absence of the Park Supervisor.
  • Operates the office in the absence of the Park Supervisor and/or Park Programmer.
  • Responsible for the inventory of office supplies.
  • Light office maintenance required.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license

Other Qualifications

  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
