Job Summary
We are seeking dedicated and proactive individuals to serve as School Resource Officers (SROs) within our educational institutions. The SRO will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors while fostering a positive school environment. This full-time position requires collaboration with school administration, law enforcement, and community stakeholders to promote a safe and supportive learning atmosphere.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a visible law enforcement presence on campus, ensuring the safety and security of students and staff.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, faculty, and parents to foster trust and open communication.
- Respond to emergencies, incidents, and complaints, providing immediate assistance and intervention as necessary.
- Conduct regular safety assessments and drills, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and emergency response procedures.
- Collaborate with school administration to develop and implement safety policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance and support to students regarding conflict resolution, bullying prevention, and other social issues.
- Participate in school events, activities, and meetings to promote community engagement and awareness.
- Deliver educational programs on topics such as drug prevention, personal safety, and law-related education.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of incidents, investigations, and interactions with students and staff.
- Work closely with local law enforcement agencies to coordinate efforts and resources for school safety.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of law enforcement training academy preferred.
- Valid state law enforcement certification and a minimum of two years of experience in law enforcement or related field.
- Strong understanding of juvenile law, school policies, and community resources.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive school environment.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Background check and drug screening required.
