Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Instructional Assistant I to join our team at Viper Elementary. This full-time position is designed for individuals who are passionate about supporting student learning and enhancing educational experiences. The Instructional Assistant will work closely with teachers and students to create a positive and engaging learning environment, providing assistance in various instructional activities and helping to meet the diverse needs of our students.
Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and classroom activities.
- Support students with their learning by providing one-on-one or small group instruction.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to teachers on individual student needs.
- Help maintain a safe and organized classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Supervise students during lunch, recess, and other non-classroom activities.
- Collaborate with teachers to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
- Assist with classroom management and behavior management strategies.
- Perform administrative tasks such as filing, grading, and record-keeping as needed.
- Support the integration of technology into the classroom and assist students with using educational software and tools.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree or higher preferred.
- Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
- Basic knowledge of child development and effective teaching strategies.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and software applications.
- Must pass background checks and any required assessments.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire.
