About the role

Peraton is seeking an Experienced Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will become part of Peraton's Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Datacenter Consolidation and Cloud Optimization (DCCO) program providing systems engineering support to the DHS Homeland Advanced Recognition Technology (HART) biometric system. This role will support the Technical Director in managing system evolution and refreshment needed to future-proof these solutions against obsolescence and to ensure that legacy technologies and services continue to satisfy changing stakeholder needs. Day to day Work Responsibilities: Conduct on-going "As-Is" and "To-Be" analyses aimed at addressing future demand for service, including the expansion and improvement of core solution technologies in the areas of biometrics, data recovery, service-oriented architectures, cloud native architectures, process and transaction management and dynamic rules engines. Develop recommendations and plans to incorporate new technologies and services to address evolving stakeholder needs. Conduct directed technical reviews and technology trade-off analyses for emerging technologies, AWS services, and biometric tools. Develop, update, and maintain the technology refresh roadmap, including all hardware and software assets within the full technology stack. Perform message comparison analysis during Parallel Operations to identify and categorize message discrepancies. Analyze and track message comparison metrics in order to satisfy system functional and non-functional requirements to meet milestone entrance criteria. Support biometric system performance testing in non-production environments to optimize matching services and ensure the system continues to meet performance and matching accuracy thresholds. Develop, update, and maintain system design diagrams and documentation Work independently and collaboratively in cross-team settings to achieve key project/program objectives and deliverables.
