React Native Engineer
Work week: 6 days (On-Site)
About the role
It is built in React Native with TypeScript and Expo, it is live, and it has carried us through 10x growth. The next step is 1M users, and the app has to earn every one of them. You'll own that app end to end. A first order that converts. An address that lands on the right door every time. Search and checkout that feel instant on a budget Android phone on patchy data. A crash rate a consumer brand can live with. You decide what gets simpler, what gets faster and what gets deleted, then you ship it, 2 to 3 builds a week, watch the funnels and replays, and go again. This is a mobile-owner role, not a ticket queue. There is no separate QA team: quality is yours, from the automated tests to the production incident. We're looking for someone with the taste to build a consumer app people recommend, and the agency to take it to 1M users without waiting to be asked. Most of all, you'll be part of a small team building healthcare for India, one doorstep at a time.
Where you'll spend your time
• Own the app. Design, build, release, OTA hotfix, production support. 2 to 3 builds a week, every one of them yours.
• Own quality. No QA team to hand off to. Jest and React Native Testing Library cover logic and screens. Maestro flows cover the money paths (login, address, prescription upload, cart, payment, tracking) on real low-end Android phones. Tests gate every PR and every EAS build. Every OTA update is rehearsed on a staging channel before a customer sees it.
• Move the numbers. Install-to-first-order conversion, repeat rate, checkout drop-off, crash-free sessions, cold start. That is your scoreboard, and you check it daily.
• Make the core journey excellent. Search, substitutes, prescription upload, address, cart, payment, live tracking. Fewer taps, clearer states, no dead ends on an API error.
• Build for everyone who needs medicine. A grandparent on a 5-year-old phone. A parent ordering at 2am for a sick child. Someone on their first smartphone. Big touch targets, readable type, plain language, regional-language ready, accessibility that actually works with a screen reader.
• Make it fast for everyone. Performance tiers, not one build. Detect device class and network, then adapt: lighter images, fewer animations, smaller payloads on low-end phones and 2G/3G, the full experience on flagships. Profile on the cheapest phone we support, not your own.
• Get the location right. Addresses and pins must land on the correct door every time. Every delivery promise rests on it.
• Shape the platform. Backend-for-frontend (BFF) and server-driven UI (SDUI) with the backend team, so screens and offers change without waiting for a release.
• Instrument, then optimize. Session replay, funnels and crash reporting tell you what actually happens. Act on it the same week.
• Use AI as a multiplier. Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot or similar, every day, while holding the line on code quality and tests.
• Push back. With Product and Design, when a flow won't convert or will confuse a stressed user. Then help on the store and rider apps when an order's path needs it, and leave every codebase simpler than you found it.
What we're looking for
Must have Key Requirements
• 3–6 years of experience building and shipping React Native apps on the Play Store/App Store, including consumer apps with 100K+ active users.
• Strong TypeScript and React Native expertise, including New Architecture, native modules, Reanimated, navigation, gestures and performance profiling.
• Hands-on experience improving app stability, screen speed, checkout conversion and performance on low-end devices and slow networks.
• Production experience with BFF and Server-Driven UI to update screens and offers without app releases.
• Experience integrating analytics, session replay, crash reporting and marketing SDKs such as PostHog, Firebase, Sentry and MoEngage.
• Familiarity with Expo/EAS or equivalent release and OTA pipelines, and automated testing using Jest, React Native Testing Library, Maestro or Detox.
• Strong UI/UX and accessibility skills, especially for elderly, low-literacy and first-time smartphone users.
• Ability to work with native Android tools, including Kotlin, Logcat and Android Profiler.
• Experience using AI coding assistants effectively, with end-to-end ownership from design to production support.
Preferred
• Experience in quick-commerce, healthcare, fintech or other consumer-facing product companies.
• Push notifications, in-app campaigns, user segmentation and deep linking.
• Firebase, AWS, barcode scanning, camera integration or background location services.
• Swift/iOS experience and experience working in lean startup teams.
