We are seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer – SDET to drive quality engineering, test automation, and software development initiatives across front-end and back-end applications. The ideal candidate will have strong programming skills, hands-on automation experience, and the ability to work effectively in Agile, high-performing engineering teams.
You will contribute to designing scalable automation frameworks, developing automated and unit tests, validating production applications, and improving software quality across the SDLC.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and test suites for front-end and back-end applications.
- Develop automated and unit tests using Python, Java, or Node.js/JavaScript.
- Apply strong object-oriented design and software engineering principles.
- Collaborate with developers, product teams, and other stakeholders throughout the SDLC.
- Develop and execute test scenarios using Gherkin/BDD methodologies.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve software quality issues across applications and services.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated quality gates.
- Support cloud-based application testing and deployment, particularly in AWS environments.
- Work with distributed systems and messaging technologies such as Kafka, Amazon SQS, or Kinesis.
- Participate in Agile and Lean development practices, including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Maintain test cases, defects, and project documentation using tools such as Jira, Xray, and Confluence.
- Monitor application quality and performance using tools such as SonarQube, Grafana, and Datadog.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of testing strategies, automation frameworks, and engineering practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 7+ years of relevant experience in SDET, Software Engineering, SRE, or similar roles.
- Strong experience in automated and/or unit testing of front-end and back-end services.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language: Python, Java, or Node.js/JavaScript.
- Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming and design principles.
- Experience working in Agile/Lean software development environments.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, Git/version control, and standard SDLC practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience.
Preferred Skills
- Hands-on production development experience with Python, Flask, Django, React, or Node.js.
- Strong backend development experience using Python or Java.
- Experience developing and deploying applications on AWS with a focus on cost and performance optimization.
- Experience with Kafka, Amazon SQS, or Kinesis.
- Proficiency in Gherkin syntax and BDD-based automation.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Spinnaker.
- Experience with Jira/Xray for test case and defect management.
- Experience with Git and SonarQube for source code and quality management.
- Familiarity with Grafana and Datadog for monitoring and data visualization.
Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related technical field, or equivalent years of relevant professional experience.
