Role Summary
We are looking for a Lead AI Engineer / Lead Data Scientist to design, build, deploy, and operationalize scalable ML and AI solutions. The role requires strong expertise in machine learning, MLOps, cloud platforms, and production-grade model deployment. You will work closely with Product, Engineering, and Business teams to deliver reliable, explainable, and business-impacting AI solutions while mentoring junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development, validation, deployment, and monitoring of ML models for predictive analytics, recommendations, forecasting, anomaly detection, classification, and optimization.
- Translate business requirements into ML strategies, feature engineering approaches, evaluation frameworks, and deployment plans.
- Build reusable pipelines for data preparation, feature engineering, model training, tuning, validation, and packaging.
- Develop scalable, maintainable, and production-ready ML solutions.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers and Software Engineers to integrate models into applications, APIs, and business workflows.
- Implement MLOps practices including experiment tracking, model versioning, CI/CD, automated deployment, monitoring, drift detection, retraining, and rollback strategies.
- Monitor production models for performance, accuracy, latency, explainability, stability, and business outcomes.
- Drive best practices around model governance, testing, documentation, interpretability, responsible AI, and feature lineage.
- Mentor Data Scientists and ML Engineers while contributing reusable frameworks, accelerators, and deployment standards.
Required Skills
- 8+ years of experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, Applied AI, or Advanced Analytics with production ML delivery experience.
- Strong expertise in supervised/unsupervised learning, feature engineering, model validation, tuning, and performance analysis.
- Proficient in Python, Scikit-learn, Pandas, NumPy, XGBoost, LightGBM, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar frameworks.
- Experience building end-to-end ML pipelines covering training, deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
- Hands-on experience with Azure ML, Databricks, MLflow, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Docker, Kubernetes, Azure Functions, Azure Container Apps, or equivalent platforms.
- Strong knowledge of SQL, APIs, batch/streaming pipelines, feature stores, model registries, and production monitoring.
- Familiarity with Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Datadog, and similar observability tools.
- Deep understanding of bias, overfitting, data leakage, drift detection, explainability, reproducibility, and ML quality standards.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience leading large-scale ML initiatives across cross-functional teams.
- Expertise in Forecasting, Recommender Systems, NLP, Optimization, Anomaly Detection, or Applied AI solutions.
- Knowledge of LLMs, Embeddings, RAG architectures, and GenAI-enabled applications.
- Familiarity with Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Studio, Azure AI Search, Kubeflow, TFX, Feature Stores, and Responsible AI frameworks.
- Experience with distributed training, large-scale data processing, platform engineering, and enterprise AI product environments.
- Ability to influence AI architecture and platform decisions while remaining hands-on.
