As a Records Specialist 1 with the Department of Corrections (DOC), you will play an important part in keeping inmate information correct and accessible. Position Duties
This position supports the maintenance and verification of inmate records for the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Mahanoy. It involves gathering information, reviewing documents, and ensuring proper handling of key data. As a Records Specialist 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Record Maintenance: Collect information from multiple sources to update inmate records and validate accuracy
- Document Review: Examine court orders and related materials to determine appropriate actions for release or confinement changes
- Identity Processing: Interview, photograph, and fingerprint inmates to support accurate identification throughout confinement
- Transport Coordination: Arrange and verify authorization for inmate transfers and releases while confirming identities of receiving officials
- Data Communication: Relay required information to inmates, staff, and partner agencies to ensure proper processing of records
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Minimum Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of clerical or correctional custodial experience; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
