About- BD Industries BDI Group (of companies) is an ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certified organization manufacturing plastic products in Mumbai since over 35 years. We manufacture over 500 products and cater to 8 different industries including custom rotational moulding. We are vendors to leading automotive companies for fuels tanks, in-cab parts, fenders, roof tops, ad blue tanks etc. BDI also manufactures various kinds of road barriers and other allied products for the safety industry. For material handling products we manufacture the entire range of plastic pallets (with foam/ without foam/with steel reinforcement). Job Title: PDI Inspector / Assembly Line Operator
Department: Production / Quality
Reports To: Production Supervisor / Quality Engineer
Job Purpose:
To perform assembly line operations as per work instructions and carry out final product inspection (PDI) to ensure defect-free output before dispatch, meeting quality and productivity targets.
Key Responsibilities:
A. Assembly Line Operations
- Perform assembly of components as per standard work instructions (SOP).
- Operate basic tools, fixtures, and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ensure correct fitment of parts as per drawing/specifications.
- Maintain cycle time and production output targets.
- Identify and report any assembly-related abnormalities or process issues.
- Follow 5S, safety, and housekeeping standards on shop floor.
B. PDI (Pre-Dispatch Inspection) Activities
- Conduct final inspection of finished products before dispatch.
- Check for visual defects (scratches, cracks, leakage, and improper assembly, finishing issues).
- Verify critical dimensions, fitment, and functional requirements.
- Use basic measuring instruments (Vernier calliper, gauges, and templates).
- Segregate products into OK / Rework / Reject categories.
- Ensure proper tagging, labelling, and traceability of inspected parts.
C. Quality & Documentation
- Maintain PDI inspection records and production reports.
- Support in identifying root causes for defects and rework reduction.
- Coordinate with quality/production teams for corrective actions (CAPA).
- Assist in customer complaint analysis when required.
Skills Required:
- Basic understanding of manufacturing/assembly processes
- Ability to read simple drawings or work instructions
- Knowledge of measuring instruments
- Attention to detail and quality focus
- Discipline, teamwork, and shop-floor communication
- Ability to handle both production and inspection responsibilities
Educational Qualification:
- ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Automobile, Production, or related field (preferred)
Experience:
- 0–3 years in assembly, production, or quality inspection roles
