About The Role
We are seeking an experienced UK Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic team on a permanent basis. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of UK payroll clients, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payrolls, compliance with HMRC regulations, and handling all related queries. You will have direct contact with clients, providing expert advice and support on payroll matters, auto-enrolment, RTI submissions, and year-end procedures. Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on UK payroll experience, preferably within an accountancy practice or UK-focused payroll environment.
- Strong knowledge of RTI, FPS/EPS submissions, auto-enrolment, SSP, SMP, SPP, CIS, director payroll, and year-end procedures.
- Experience handling HMRC notices, tax coding, starters, leavers, and client queries.
- Proficiency with payroll software such as BrightPay (preferred but not essential).
- Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English.
- Ability to work independently with a proactive, ownership-driven approach.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end UK payroll processing for a diverse client portfolio, ensuring accuracy and compliance with statutory regulations.
- Handle RTI submissions, including FPS and EPS filings, and manage auto-enrolment duties.
- Respond promptly and professionally to client inquiries related to payroll, tax codes, and HMRC notices.
- Ensure timely processing of starters, leavers, and changes to employee details.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and prepare reports as required for clients and internal management.
- Keep abreast of legislative changes affecting payroll and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with the wider team to support other accounting and advisory services as needed.
- Assist in year-end payroll procedures, including P60s, P11Ds, and other statutory filings.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of payroll processes and workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
