Job Description
Broad Function
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Payroll & Compliance Specialist (Indian Payroll Only) to manage end-to-end payroll operations and ensure statutory compliance across the organization. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in payroll processing, labor law compliance, HR audits, and ISO audit documentation with the ability to manage compliance activities with minimal supervision independently.
The candidate should have hands-on experience in handling payroll systems, statutory filings, labour inspections, and HR process audits while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and adherence to organizational policies and legal regulations.
Roles and Responsibilities: Functional Area
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Management
• Manage end-to-end payroll processing with complete accuracy and timely salary disbursement.
• Validate attendance, leave, incentives, reimbursements, and salary revisions before payroll closure.
• Handle full & final settlements, salary structure updates, and payroll reconciliations.
Statutory Compliance
• Ensure timely compliance of PF, ESI, PT, TDS, LWF, Bonus, and Gratuity regulations.
• Prepare and file statutory returns within defined timelines.
• Maintain compliance registers, records, and documentation as per labor laws.
Labor Law Compliance
• Ensure adherence to labor laws including Shops & Establishment Act, CLRA, Minimum Wages Act, Payment of Wages Act, etc.
• Coordinate labor inspections, notices, and compliance audits.
• Stay updated with amendments in labor laws and implement necessary changes.
Audit & Documentation
• Support internal, external, and ISO audits related to HR and compliance processes.
• Maintain audit-ready documentation, SOPs, and compliance trackers.
• Prepare audit reports, payroll MIS, and compliance dashboards.
HR Operations Support
• Coordinate with HR and Finance teams for payroll inputs and employee data management.
• Resolve employee queries related to salary, deductions, and statutory benefits.
• Ensure confidentiality and accuracy of employee records and payroll information.
Process Improvement
• Identify opportunities for payroll automation and process optimization.
• Assist in strengthening HR compliance frameworks and process standardization.
• Support implementation of HRMS and payroll system enhancements.
Requirements
• Minimum 4 years of experience in Payroll & HR Compliance.
• Strong understanding of labour laws and statutory compliances.
• Hands-on experience in PF, ESI, PT, TDS, Bonus, Gratuity, and labour audit handling.
• Experience in handling ISO audits and maintaining audit documentation.
• Strong knowledge of payroll processing systems and HRMS tools.
• Excellent analytical, documentation, and MIS reporting skills.
• Good understanding of HR operational processes and compliance frameworks.
• Ability to manage multiple compliance activities within timelines.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Experience in IT/ITES industry will be an added advantage.
