Senior Software Engineer, Core Payments

As a Senior Software Engineer, Core Payments, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the core payments infrastructure at PayPal. You will work on mission-critical systems that power billions of transactions globally. You will be part of a highly skilled and passionate engineering team that is responsible for the reliability, scalability, and performance of PayPal's payments platform. Key responsibilities include: - Design, develop, and maintain mission-critical payments systems and services - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions - Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge sharing sessions to ensure high-quality, maintainable code - Contribute to the overall technical strategy and roadmap for the payments platform - Mentor and guide junior engineers, share best practices, and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Qualifications: - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field - 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong background in building highly scalable, distributed systems - Expertise in Java, Golang, or other server-side programming languages - In-depth understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and cloud-based infrastructure - Experience with databases, message queues, and other data storage/processing technologies - Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically about complex technical challenges - Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
