Payments Operations Analyst
Role Overview
The Payments Operations Analyst is responsible for coordinating integrations, monitoring, analyzing, and ensuring the smooth and reliable flow of payment transactions across the payment gateway. This role focuses on real-time transaction health, incident detection, coordination with internal engineering teams, support, and external banking partners, coordinating integrations and maintaining high success rates and system reliability.
This is a business-critical, operations-focused role that sits between technology, payments, and support.

Key Responsibilities
Monitor live payment traffic across channels (UPI, IMPS etc.)
Track transaction success rates, failure reasons, latency, and TPS
Identify anomalies such as sudden drop in success rate, spikes in failures, bank outages, or latency issues
Perform first-level investigation using dashboards, logs, and monitoring tools
Classify incidents (bank-side, gateway-side, network, partner, merchant)
Escalate issues to Engineering, SRE, Banks, or Network partners with clear context
Coordinate during production incidents and track resolution
Monitor bank adapters, retries, settlements, webhooks, and reconciliation flows
Prepare incident reports, daily health reports, and RCA inputs
Ensure adherence to SLAs, TATs, and operational runbooks
Support merchants/internal teams during high-impact payment incidents
Tools & Systems Exposure
Monitoring tools
Logs & tracing systems
SQL/Mongodb/ basic data analysis tools
Ticketing & incident management tools
Payment dashboards & reconciliation systems
Required Skills & Qualifications
1–4 years of experience in payments operations, fintech ops, or production support
Strong understanding of payment flows and transaction lifecycles
Familiarity with UPI, Cards, NetBanking, Wallets, or Bank integrations
Ability to analyze metrics, logs, and failure patterns
Good understanding of APIs, HTTP status codes, timeouts, retries
Strong communication and incident coordination skills
Good to Have
Prior experience at a payment gateway, bank, or fintech company
Understanding of settlements, reconciliation, chargebacks, and refunds
Basic SQL or data querying skills
Exposure to incident response or on-call operations
Key Metrics (KPIs)
Payment success rate
Incident detection and response time
SLA adherence
Accuracy of incident classification
Quality of incident reports and RCA inputs
