Job Summary
Synechron is seeking an experienced Payment Solution Architect to lead the design and implementation of large-scale, secure, and scalable payment systems supporting enterprise operations. This role requires deep domain expertise in payments and financial messaging standards, along with advanced technical skills in cloud-native architectures and microservices. The Architect will collaborate with cross-functional teams, operations, risk, and finance stakeholders to develop bold, innovative payment solutions aligned with strategic business objectives and industry standards.
Software Requirements
Required Software Proficiency:
- .NET 8 (C#) — extensive experience in developing enterprise applications supporting banking and payment processing systems
- SQL Server — deep knowledge of relational database design, query optimization, and data management support
- Cloud-native technologies: Docker, Kubernetes — strong experience in containerization and orchestration supporting scalable deployment (AWS, Azure)
- Messaging and Integration Platforms: Kafka, MuleSoft CloudHub — advanced knowledge supporting event-driven and integrated payment systems
- Monitoring & Observability: Datadog, Power BI — skills in performance monitoring, reporting, and dashboard creation supporting operational oversight
Preferred Software Skills:
- Cloud platforms: AWS and Azure — supporting cloud-native deployment, security, and compliance (preferred support)
- Identity and security standards: JWT, OAuth2 — for secure API and service access control
- DevOps automation tools supporting CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps) supported with IaC practices supporting compliance and auditability
Overall Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and development of scalable, secure, and resilient payment systems supporting enterprise workflows, including FX, settlement, and transaction processing
- Design and implement a domain-driven, microservices-based architecture supporting high-volume, low-latency payment operations
- Collaborate with business units, risk, and operations stakeholders to translate complex business needs into robust technical solutions
- Define and oversee architecture standards supporting scalability, security, interoperability, and compliance with industry norms (PCI DSS, GDPR)
- Implement event sourcing, saga patterns, BFF, and API versioning supporting payment lifecycle and transaction integrity
- Lead efforts to migrate legacy systems to modern architectures, supporting cloud deployment and infrastructure as code practices
- Develop comprehensive technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, process flows, and governance frameworks
- Direct the deployment, monitoring, and ongoing optimization of payment solutions supporting operational availability and transaction integrity
- Drive continuous innovation by evaluating emerging technologies and developing proof of concepts supporting organizational goals

Experience Requirements
- 15 to 18 years in enterprise payment systems architecture or large-scale financial systems supporting FX, settlement, and transaction workflows
- Proven experience leading architecture and development in payment or banking environments, supporting high-volume, secure APIs and message flows
- Extensive knowledge of scheme standards (Visa, Mastercard), transaction automation, and security compliance (PCI DSS, GDPR)
- Experience supporting or designing cloud-native, microservices-based payment ecosystems in regulated environments
- Demonstrated leadership in deploying complex systems supporting compliance, scalability, and operational resilience
Day-to-Day Activities
- Lead the architecture design, system integration, and deployment of scalable payment solutions supporting the entire transaction lifecycle
- Collaborate with product teams, operations, security, and compliance to ensure platform stability and security
- Develop and enforce architecture standards, security controls, API specifications, and best practices
- Support migration of legacy systems to modern, cloud-supported architectures
- Conduct performance tuning, incident analysis, and security audits supporting operational reliability
- Create and maintain architecture documents, security policies, and operational procedures supporting audit readiness
- Mentor technical teams, guide best practices, and foster a culture of continuous improvement in system design and implementation
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a relevant technical discipline
- 15 to 18 years supporting enterprise payment systems, transaction processing, or banking solutions supporting high security and compliance standards
- Certifications highly desired: PCI DSS, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, or equivalent
- Proven experience in supporting or leading large-scale, secure, compliant, multi-region payment solutions supporting high transaction volumes
