About The Team
The Payments team works on driving conversion improvements, day-to-day operations, process improvements, automation and reporting across all business lines at smallcase.
We collaborate closely with Product, Customer Experience (CX), and Business teams- sharing relevant reports that capture on-ground issues and process gaps to drive informed decisions and continuous improvements. On the external side, we work directly with Payment Gateways (PGs), Payment Aggregators (PAs), and Banking partners to manage and resolve payment-related workflows.
About The Role
As a Payment Operations Associate, you will own end-to-end payment operations for smallcase — from daily processing and reconciliation to resolving partner escalations and driving process improvements. You'll work at the intersection of payments infrastructure, internal teams, and external partners to ensure smooth, reliable payment flows for our users & investment managers.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Collaborate with the internal (product, technology, business, customer support) teams and act as the day-to-day point of contact with external stakeholders like Payment Gateways, Payment Aggregators, and banking partners to solve any blockers
- Handle the onboarding of new investment managers/merchants onto our payment platforms
- Coordinate with partners on technical issues, settlement discrepancies, and reconciliation gaps
- Maintain daily/weekly/monthly trackers and reports to capture on-ground activities, payment health, track performance metrics and provide visibility to relevant stakeholders
- Contribute to product development by providing insights based on day-to-day operations/processes
- Identify bottlenecks and process improvements, and find solutions to them
- Prepare and maintain documentation for operational procedures, ensuring that processes are well-documented and easily accessible to team members
What We Look For In You
- 1–3 years of experience in operations or a related field, or a strong internship (6+ months) in a relevant domain
- High agency: takes initiative, follows through without hand-holding, and flags issues proactively
- Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets for tracking, reconciliation, and basic data analysis
- Strong written and verbal communication- comfortable drafting clear emails to external partners and summarising issues for internal teams
- Ability to manage external partners independently and escalate appropriately
Nice To-haves
- Prior experience in fintech, payments, wealth tech, or AMC/mutual fund operations would be a plus
- Working knowledge of or interest in learning analytics tools/SQL for data pulls and reporting
- Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and a structured approach to problem-solving
- Have an eagerness to learn about the company's products and their capabilities.
