We are seeking a skilled and motivated Commis I – Pastry Cook to join our culinary team at a 4-star hotel. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in both bakery and confectionery production, with a strong foundation in classic and contemporary pastry techniques. This role requires consistency, creativity, and adherence to high standards of hygiene and presentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and present a wide range of pastries, desserts, breads, and baked goods as per hotel standards.
- Assist in daily operations of the pastry kitchen, including mise en place and production planning.
- Execute recipes for cakes, pastries, cookies, plated desserts, chocolates, and confectionery items.
- Ensure proper handling of bakery ingredients such as doughs, batters, creams, fillings, and chocolate.
- Monitor stock levels and assist in inventory control to minimize wastage.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and hygiene standards in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Support senior chefs in menu development and seasonal offerings.
- Ensure consistency in taste, texture, and presentation across all products.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and kitchen guidelines.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or certification in Hotel Management / Culinary Arts / Pastry & Bakery.
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience as Commis I or equivalent in a reputed hotel or bakery.
- Proven experience in both:
- Bakery (bread making, viennoiserie, dough handling)
- Confectionery (cakes, pastries, chocolates, desserts)
- Knowledge of baking techniques, temperature control, and ingredient functions.
- Familiarity with modern pastry trends and plating styles.
- Understanding of food safety standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
- Team player with good communication skills.
