About Kivah
Kivah is a contemporary handcrafted clothing brand that brings Indian craft into modern silhouettes.
The idea is to take traditional Indian techniques, textiles and craftsmanship and translate them into clothing that feels modern, wearable and relevant today.
We’re now preparing for our first launch, and I’m looking for someone to work closely with me through the sampling and production process.
About the role
We're looking for someone who has a good eye for fashion, fabrics and clothing and enjoys the practical side of getting clothes made.
Your main responsibility will be helping take Kivah's designs from an idea to a finished sample, and then into production.
What you’ll be doing
- Sourcing fabrics and materials
- Speaking to fabric shops, dealers and suppliers
- Finding the right fabrics for each design
- Coordinating with tailors to make samples
- Explaining designs and alterations to tailors
- Checking samples for fit, finish and overall look
- Coordinating changes and getting revised samples made
- Keeping track of fabrics, samples and different designs
- Liaising with our bulk manufacturer once designs are finalised
- Following up with manufacturers to make sure production stays on schedule
- Helping with quality checks
- Solving any issues that come up during sampling and manufacturing
We're looking for someone who:
- Has a good sense of fashion and style
- Understands fabrics and basic garment construction
- Has some experience dealing with tailors, fabric suppliers or clothing manufacturers
- Is comfortable speaking to people and following up
- Is organised and pays attention to detail
- Is proactive and can work independently
- Is genuinely interested in clothing and Indian textiles/craft
Formal qualifications aren't important. If you’ve worked with a tailor, fabric dealer, garment manufacturer, fashion business, or have experience making clothes yourself, that could be more valuable.
