The Park Rapids School District is seeking a motivated and creative individual to serve as the Yearbook Advisor at Park Rapids High School for the upcoming school year. This advisory position is ideal for someone passionate about photography, design, and storytelling, and who is eager to guide students in capturing and documenting their high school experiences. The Yearbook Advisor will work closely with a team of student editors and contributors to produce a high-quality yearbook that reflects the spirit and achievements of our school community.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the yearbook production process from concept to completion, ensuring adherence to deadlines and budget constraints.
- Collaborate with student editors to develop themes, layouts, and content for the yearbook.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to students in areas such as photography, writing, and graphic design.
- Organize and conduct workshops to enhance students' skills in yearbook production.
- Coordinate with school administration, faculty, and staff to gather necessary information and approvals for yearbook content.
- Manage the collection of photos, student portraits, and candid shots throughout the school year.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration among student team members to foster a positive and productive working environment.
- Ensure that the final yearbook meets quality standards and is delivered on time to students and families.
- Promote yearbook sales and engage the student body in contributing content and ideas.
Requirements
- Previous experience in yearbook production, journalism, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Photoshop) and familiarity with digital photography.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, faculty, and parents.
- A passion for storytelling and a commitment to creating an inclusive and representative yearbook.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students to take ownership of their contributions to the yearbook.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed during the yearbook production timeline.
