Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and technically strong Executive: New Product Development (NPD) in the Ayurvedic personal and beauty care category. The role involves developing new products inspired by Ayurvedic principles and natural ingredients while ensuring modern performance, consumer appeal, and regulatory compliance.
The ideal candidate brings together an understanding of Ayurvedic formulations, consumer insights, and FMCG product development processes to drive differentiated and authentic product innovations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Product Ideation & Conceptualization
· Identify consumer needs, Ayurvedic solutions, and market gaps to conceptualize new products in skin care, hair care, body care, and wellness categories.
· Translate Ayurvedic texts and traditional formulations into modern, scalable FMCG products.
2. Formulation Development
· Partner with internal R&D teams and Ayurvedic experts to design stable, efficacious formulations using herbal actives, oils, extracts, and essential blends.
· Ensure formulations are 100% compliant with Ayurvedic standards while being sensory and performance-competitive.
3. Project Management
· Lead end-to-end product development from concept, trials, testing, packaging, and scale-up to market launch.
· Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Packaging, Supply Chain, QA/QC, Regulatory, and Procurement.
4. Vendor & Partner Collaboration
· Work with external R&D labs, raw material suppliers, and contract manufacturers to evaluate new ingredients, technologies, and sustainable packaging options.
5. Regulatory & Quality Compliance
· Ensure all products comply with AYUSH regulations, Drugs & Cosmetics Act, and FSSAI (for ingestible wellness products) where applicable.
· Oversee stability, safety, and efficacy testing.
6. Trend & Market Intelligence
· Stay updated on natural beauty, Ayurveda, and clean beauty trends.
· Benchmark competitor products and incorporate consumer insights into the product pipeline.
7. Sustainability & Clean Beauty
· Integrate eco-conscious principles in sourcing, packaging, and formulation — focusing on plant-based, biodegradable, and cruelty-free approaches.
Key Skills & Competencies:
· Strong understanding of Ayurvedic herbs, oils, and traditional formulations
· Technical knowledge of formulation chemistry and stability
· Familiarity with AYUSH and BIS regulatory frameworks
· Excellent project management and cross-functional leadership skills
· Creative and innovation-driven mindset
· Strong vendor management and commercialization capability
· Good understanding of clean, natural, and sustainable product trends
