Serve as an Amelia A. Gould Undergraduate Research Assistant this summer to support faculty projects in the Creative Arts.
Faculty in the creative arts are all working professionals in their field who are publishing, performing, and exhibiting their work throughout the year. For many, summer is a particularly productive time well suited to an intensive period for working with a student research assistant. Students working on faculty projects will learn how professionals pursue their work and how both faculty and students comprise a creative campus community.
This program is designed:
- to offer students a mentoring intensive at a professional studio, museum or gallery exhibition, maker space, or working production and spend an extended period of time immersed in a creative project.
- onsite work will afford students insight into the culture of their chosen fields, allow them to develop sustained working habits and stamina, and learn new skills and methods.
- to involve more creative arts students in faculty mentored research and creative inquiry.
- to provide faculty members with research support and enhance opportunities for student-faculty collaboration on academic projects in the creative arts.
The Undergraduate Research Assistant will have a wide range of responsibilities depending on the faculty mentor they work with. Some of the job responsibilities include but not limit to:
- Writing, producing, directing, videography, and editing.
- Communication, and outreach.
- Researching.
- Helping to curate an exhibition.
- Creating screening kits, and developing partnerships.
- Updating social media and website development.
- Assist in designing characters for animated sequences, sewing, and building sets.
- Creating and contributing visual arts projects.
Requirements
Position qualifications included but not limited to:
- Teamwork.

- Design and visual storytelling skills.
- Critical thinking skills.

- Basic non-linear editing skills.
- Willingness to learn.
- Draw, illustrate, storyboard, design characters, and make costumes.

Summary
Exact schedule to be determined with the supervisor. The student will work 5-8 hours per week.
