Currently testing for an eligibility list at this time which will be used to fill vacancies for up to one year.  Typically positions are 8.0 hours per day, 180 work days per year. 

Please Note: Some positions that involve public contact may require bilingual proficiency for which selective certification may apply (Education Code 45277).
 
SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Under direction of the Principal or other school site administrator, assists with the early identification of students at risk of not meeting academic and social goals or leaving school and coordinates and/or applies appropriate interventions as a member of an intervention team; establishes relationships with local agencies and refers families  to District and community services and agencies as needed; acts as a student and parent advocate and supports families in obtaining services needed for continued student success; and performs a variety of duties related to assigned area of responsibility.

Position Duties

· Assists with the early identification of students at risk of not meeting academic and social goals or leaving school prematurely and coordinates and/or applies appropriate interventions as a member of an intervention team, both instructional and with auxiliary services;
· Establishes working relationships with social services, counseling agencies, family service associations, and other related agencies;
· Maintains a current resource handbook and list of local referrals and  refers families to school and District services and community agencies as needed acts as liaison on behalf of students to coordinate access to, and delivery of, health, mental health, public assistance, and other community services; ensures the program is implemented in cooperation with existing projects and community resources; confers, as needed, with teacher, nurse or site administrator on special issues of assigned students;
· Secures outside resources and volunteers, support from private businesses and other in-kind assistance from non-school sources; coordinates school programs and assistance from public and private agencies and services;
· Assists parents in understanding school standards and students' conduct, attendance, achievement, and opportunities for improvement; helps identify areas of parent and community concern and periodically reports these school administration;
· Serves as a member of  the Student Success Team (SST) and Coordinated Services Team (CST) and attends meetings as required;
· Monitors attendance among high-risk students and attempts to identify and address causes of individual student truancy, tardiness, and absenteeism by means of informal counseling and meetings with parents, counselors, community members, and service agencies;
· Serves as a student/family advocate supporting academic and social success for at risk students; performs community outreach including developing and conducting parent training and workshops;
· Performs basic clerical functions required in the gathering, maintaining, and analyzing of data needed for, and related to, student referrals, family needs, and other areas needed for successful job performance.
 
Other Related Duties
·  May participate as an elected member of School Site Council (SSC);
·  Performs activities and objectives established by the SSC;
· For positions with bilingual designations, translates a variety of written materials from English to a second language and from that language into English; interprets and facilitates communication between staff and non-English speaking members of the public; attends various meetings to translate and interpret as needed;
· Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Education: A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university in education, counseling, social work, sociology, psychology or other closely related field. Additional years of experience beyond that required below may be substituted for up to two years of the required education on a year-for-year basis.
 
Experience: Two years of experience in public schools, public agencies such as social or health services, or community-based organizations such as church groups, community advisory groups, parent/teacher associations, scouting organizations, etc. 
 
Special: Possession of a valid California Driver's license.
 
Ability to be insured, and continue to be insurable, by the District's liability insurance carrier.
 
All licenses, certificates, and other requirements listed above are required at the time of employment and must be maintained during the course of employment unless otherwise noted.

Other Qualifications

This is a Dual Certification recruitment: Candidates who attain a passing score on each examination part will be placed in rank order on an eligibility list after promotional credits are added to the composite test scores of promotional candidates. These examinations are open to permanent employees and the public.
