Role Overview
The Fundraising Associate will play a central role in supporting Bahaar Foundation’s resource mobilization efforts. This role combines fundraising operations, donor outreach, database management, follow-ups, and reporting. The Associate will work closely with the leadership and program teams to ensure a strong fundraising pipeline and high-quality donor stewardship.
This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable with data and communication, and interested in the social impact / development sector.
Key Responsibilities
1. Fundraising Database & CRM Management
- Maintain and regularly update the fundraising database / CRM (donors, prospects, CSR leads, foundations, contacts)
- Track all fundraising activities including outreach, meetings, proposals, follow-ups, and commitments
- Ensure accurate documentation of donor history, funding interests, grant cycles, and reporting requirements
- Create dashboards or trackers for pipeline status, deadlines, and fundraising progress.
2. Opportunity Identification & Research
- Identify potential funding opportunities including:
- CSR grants (Indian companies)
- Foundations (Indian and international)
- Philanthropists and HNIs
- Bilateral / multilateral funding opportunities (as relevant)
- Research funder priorities, eligibility criteria, application timelines, and past grants.
- Maintain a structured opportunity calendar with submission and follow-up dates.
3. Outreach & Follow-ups
- Support outbound fundraising outreach via email, LinkedIn, and other professional channels.
- Draft and customize outreach emails, concept notes, and introductory decks (with guidance).
- Schedule meetings and calls with potential donors and partners.
- Ensure timely and consistent follow-ups with funders and CSR teams.
4. Donor Management & Stewardship
- Support ongoing relationships with existing donors and CSR partners.
- Coordinate donor communication, updates, and engagement touchpoints.
- Ensure commitments, milestones, and deliverables are tracked and met.
- Support leadership in preparing for donor meetings and presentations.
5. Reporting & Documentation
- Coordinate donor reports (narrative and financial) in collaboration with program and finance teams.
- Track reporting deadlines and compliance requirements.
- Maintain organized records of proposals, MOUs, grant agreements, and reports.
- Assist in compiling impact summaries, case studies, and outcome highlights for donors.
6. Internal Coordination
- Work closely with:
- Program teams (for data, outcomes, stories)
- Finance team (for budgets and utilization)
- Leadership (for strategy, donor conversations)
- Support fundraising strategy discussions with data and insights from the pipeline.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in social sciences, management, communications, development studies, or related fields.
- 1–4 years of experience in fundraising, partnerships, CSR coordination, or nonprofit operations.
- Prior experience managing donor databases or CRMs is strongly preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
- Excellent written communication (emails, summaries, reports, presentations).
- Comfort with spreadsheets, trackers, and databases.
- Ability to research and synthesize information clearly.
- Professional, confident communication with external stakeholders.
- High attention to detail and deadline discipline.
- Interest in health, nutrition, livelihoods, or social impact work.
Desirable (Nice to Have)
- Familiarity with Indian CSR ecosystem and Section 135 compliance.
- Experience working with foundations or CSR teams.
- Exposure to tools like Salesforce, Airtable, Zoho CRM, Notion, or similar.
- Basic understanding of nonprofit finance and reporting.
