Othello Community Hospital is a full-service, critical access hospital located in Othello, Washington. Open 24/7, it provides both inpatient and outpatient care to the surrounding Adams County community with a strong commitment to accessible, high-quality healthcare.

OPEN POSITION: Full-Time Dietary Cook
Othello Community Hospital is seeking a reliable and motivated Full-Time Dietary Cook to prepare high-quality meals for patients, residents, staff, and visitors. This position is responsible for food preparation, cooking, sanitation, and maintaining dietary standards in a healthcare setting while ensuring excellent food quality and safety. Must be able to read and follow recipes and know basic cooking and baking skills. We will train for prescribed house diets.
· Location: Othello Community Hospital, Othello, WA
· Departments: Dietary
· Schedule: 32-40hrs/Week, Days, Holidays, Monday through Friday, some weekends.
· Status: Temporary/Part-Time; (not-benefit earning)
· Wage Range: $19.77 – $35.81/hour
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes and dietary guidelines
- Ensure food is prepared in compliance with sanitation, safety, and infection control standards
- Review production schedules and prepare food in appropriate quantities
- Assist with special diets and modified food preparations as directed
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen equipment, workstations, storage areas, and food service areas
- Monitor food temperatures and proper food storage procedures
- Assist with receiving, stocking, and rotating inventory and supplies
- Work collaboratively with dietary staff to ensure timely meal service
- Maintain accurate records related to food production and safety checks
- Perform additional duties as assigned by Dietary Services leadership
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred (GED)
- WA State Food Handler Card is required.
- Previous cooking experience in a commercial kitchen, healthcare, or institutional setting preferred
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to prepare meals efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
