About The Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Developmental Editor to join our UPSC category team. The candidate will play a critical role in shaping high-quality academic content for aspirants preparing for India’s most competitive exam. You will work closely with subject matter experts, authors, and the editorial team to ensure that the content is accurate, engaging, logically structured, and aligned with UPSC standards.

Key Responsibilities

Content Development & Editing

  • Develop, review, and edit manuscripts for UPSC books (Prelims & Mains).
  • Ensure logical flow, consistency, and clarity in content, maintaining UPSC exam orientation.
  • Simplify complex concepts into easy-to-understand language without compromising accuracy.
  • Identify content gaps, suggest restructuring, and provide feedback to authors/SMEs.
  • Incorporate current affairs, government reports, and policy updates into the content.
  • Collaborate with authors, educators, and freelancers to deliver projects within deadlines.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure fact-checking, data validation, and referencing from authentic sources.
  • Maintain uniformity in language, style, and pedagogy across books.
  • Work with proofreaders and copy editors to deliver error-free content.
  • Develop style guides and editorial standards for UPSC titles.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Educational Qualification: Master’s degree in Political Science, Economics, History, Public Administration or related field. (UPSC background preferred.)
  • Experience: 3–6 years in academic/developmental editing, preferably in UPSC/competitive exam publishing.
  • Strong command over written English with ability to simplify and structure academic content.
  • Familiarity with UPSC exam pattern, syllabus, and expectations of aspirants.
  • Excellent project management skills with ability to handle multiple titles simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail, fact-checking, and content accuracy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with subject matter experts and educators.

Good to Have

  • Experience in handling end-to-end book development (from manuscript to final print).
  • Background in UPSC preparation (appeared for prelims/mains) is a must.
