The Role
We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Orthotist to join the NHSGGC Orthotics Team, delivering high-quality care across a diverse and rewarding clinical caseload. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- Base Location, Gartnavel General Hospital
- Full Time Position (36 hours per week)
- Permanent Contract
- Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 08:30 am - 04:30 pm
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a defined clinical caseload, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge of patients with a range of complex needs
- Work autonomously and within multi-professional teams to deliver coordinated patient-centred care across inpatient and outpatient settings
- Prescribe supply and review appropriate orthotic devices or alternative treatment plans to support recovery and function
- Prioritise workload effectively across clinics, wards and domiciliary visits, ensuring timely service delivery
- Supervise support and delegate tasks to orthotic assistants, technicians, and students on placement
- Contribute to clinical audit quality improvement and service development initiatives using evidence-based practice
- Communicate complex information clearly to patients, carers, and colleagues to support informed decision making and engagement in treatment
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
- Honours Degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics or equivalent qualification
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Evidence of relevant postgraduate CPD aligned to Level 5 of the NMAHP Development Framework
- Demonstrable knowledge of orthotic practice across a range of clinical conditions and healthcare settings
- Ability to work independently using clinical reasoning and sound judgement within the scope of practice
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills with the ability to motivate and support patients
- Working knowledge of IT systems for clinical documentation, audit, and communication
