Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Instructional Assistant to join our team at Locust Grove Primary. The successful candidate will support classroom teachers in delivering high-quality educational experiences for students. This role involves working closely with students to enhance their learning, providing individualized support, and fostering a positive and engaging classroom environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist the classroom teacher in implementing lesson plans and instructional activities.
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, helping them grasp concepts and complete assignments.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to the teacher regarding individual student needs.
- Help maintain a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
- Prepare instructional materials and resources as directed by the teacher.
- Support classroom management by helping to enforce rules and procedures.
- Assist with the organization and supervision of classroom activities, including field trips and special events.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to promote a collaborative educational environment.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or school administration.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher preferred.
- Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support student learning.
- Basic knowledge of instructional strategies and classroom management techniques.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and software.
- Ability to lift and assist students as needed.
- Background check and clearance as required by local regulations.
