Role Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced
Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain, and optimize Oracle database environments hosted on AWS. This role is responsible for ensuring database performance, stability, and reliability through effective monitoring, patching, and incident management. The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining high availability of critical systems and continuously improving database operations.
Key Responsibilities Technical Skills & Experience
- Monitoring & Performance Management
- Monitor database health, capacity, and performance, including CPU, memory, I/O, and storage metrics.
- Perform SQL tuning, index optimization, and execution plan analysis.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, locking issues, and resource contention.
- Implement proactive monitoring and ing using AWS CloudWatch and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
- Patching & Upgrades
- Plan, schedule, and execute Oracle database patching and version upgrades.
- Identify and mitigate compatibility and dependency risks prior to upgrades.
- Collaborate with application and development teams to address upgrade-related issues.
- Validate database stability, performance, and functionality post-upgrade.
- Incident & Problem Management
- Provide Level 2/Level 3 (L2/L3) support for database-related incidents.
- Troubleshoot issues related to database availability, performance, and stability.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement preventive and corrective measures.
Essential Skills
- Strong experience as an Oracle DBA, supporting Oracle 19c and above.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle databases on AWS RDS.
- In-depth understanding of Oracle database architecture and internal workings.
- Strong knowledge of backup and recovery strategies.
- Proven expertise in performance tuning using AWR, ADDM, and SQL tuning techniques.
- Experience with AWS services including RDS, EC2 (basic), CloudWatch, IAM, and S3.
- Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with automation and scripting (e.g., Shell, Python).
- Exposure to high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) architectures.
- Experience working within enterprise-scale or regulated environments.
