About The Role
The Operator role at CommScope is integral to the manufacturing process of cord assemblies, which are essential components in various communication and electronic systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality cord assemblies in accordance with technical specifications, safety standards, and quality benchmarks. This position requires attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to work efficiently within a team environment. The Operator will utilize the latest manufacturing processes and machinery, ensuring optimal productivity while minimizing waste and scrap. The role also involves routine maintenance of equipment, adherence to safety protocols, and active participation in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall manufacturing efficiency.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Prior experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in assembly or cord manufacturing, is preferred but not mandatory. Basic knowledge of computer operations and familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems will be advantageous. Candidates must demonstrate excellent manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and color recognition skills. Flexibility and a willingness to learn new skills through developmental training are essential. Candidates should also have good problem-solving abilities and be capable of performing self-inspections to ensure quality standards are met. A proactive attitude towards safety and environmental regulations is required to maintain a secure and sustainable workplace environment.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Operator include, but are not limited to, working from route sheets, drawings, and work or sales orders to carry out manufacturing tasks. The role involves retrieving components, tools, and materials from designated storage areas, setting up workstations, and operating cutting machines to produce cords within specified tolerances. The Operator will prepare cords using appropriate tools, assemble various connectors, and perform jointing operations as needed. Ensuring cords are securely packed, correctly labeled, and stored is a key aspect of the role. Routine preventive maintenance and minor breakdown repairs on manufacturing equipment are also part of the responsibilities, along with changing dies and tooling on presses and cutting machines. Rejecting defective or non-conforming cords, filling out necessary paperwork, updating reports, and performing SAP transactions are integral to maintaining accurate records. The Operator is responsible for conducting self-inspections to uphold quality standards and adhering to ISO 9001 requirements. Additionally, the role involves operating Zebra printers, ensuring work order compliance, and supporting engineering teams with experimental or process improvement activities. Maintaining departmental safety, housekeeping, and environmental recycling procedures are also critical responsibilities.
