Under general supervision by the Technical Manager, this employee will provide daily support to the direct sales force, representatives, and customers in the areas of API-610 Pumps and other pump applications, proposal development and order processing/management. Specifically, this includes review of API-610 pump specifications, proposal preparation, providing technical support to customers, interfacing with vendors, order processing and expediting.
Operations Manager – Manufacturing (Centrifugal Pumps / Rotating Equipment)
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and technically strong Operations Manager to establish and lead our India manufacturing operations from the ground up. This individual will be Employee #1 at the facility and will be responsible for building the factory infrastructure, hiring and developing the team, implementing processes, and delivering world-class manufacturing performance. The ideal candidate has successfully started a rotating equipment manufacturing facility (preferably centrifugal pumps) and can confidently represent the company to customers while ensuring operational excellence.
Key Requirements
- Must possess a valid USA visa or be eligible to obtain one quickly.
- Proven experience in rotating equipment manufacturing, ideally centrifugal pumps.
- Demonstrated experience building a factory from scratch — including:
- Hiring the full team
- Establishing processes and SOPs
- Setting up workstations and production flow
- Implementing quality systems
- Strong technical knowledge in pump manufacturing and oilfield applications.
- Ability to inspire customer confidence and consistently deliver on commitments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Factory Setup & Leadership
- Establish and operationalize the manufacturing facility.
- Develop organizational structure and hire key personnel.
- Build production systems, workflows, and performance metrics.
- Implement state-of-the-art manufacturing practices including continuous flow systems.
2. Operations & Production Management
- Plan and schedule production to meet customer demand.
- Optimize manpower utilization in alignment with production schedules.
- Monitor product quality, process capability, and performance KPIs.
- Initiate programs that increase productivity while controlling costs.
- Maintain sufficient inventory levels to meet service requirements.
- Oversee preventive maintenance and coordinate repair activities.
3. Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and specifications.
- Drive performance against budgets and operational targets.
- Implement corrective actions to address inefficiencies.
4. Customer & Market Focus
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Manage the shop service department.
- Analyse buying trends, customer needs, and profitability.
- Propose innovative strategies to increase market share.
- Balance customer needs with long-term company interests.
5. Financial & Strategic Management
- Understand cost accounting principles and financial statements.
- Develop budgets and recommend operational plans.
- Measure performance against financial targets.
6. Safety, Environmental & Compliance
- Participate in company and OSHA safety inspections.
- Investigate incidents and coordinate safety matters.
- Ensure environmental compliance and permit adherence.
- Maintain emergency response readiness.
7. Leadership & Talent Development
- Develop supervisory ranks and conduct performance evaluations.
- Identify training needs and strengthen team capabilities.
- Delegate responsibilities effectively and hold teams accountable.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Supply Chain or Business discipline preferred).
- MBA preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of production leadership experience.
- Strong background in oilfield or industrial manufacturing.
- Proven track record in leadership and operational excellence.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent decision-making capability.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders.
- Physical ability to respond immediately to emergency situations.
