About the role

The Faculty of Business & Information Technology at Ontario Tech University invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor in Networking and IT Security. This position is subject to budgetary approval and would start on January 1, 2025. Applicants must possess a university degree in Networking and IT Systems or a similar field, as well as either industry networking certifications or a graduate degree in a related field, or both. The ideal candidate will bring experience with at least three of the following: Networking (basic to advanced), Software Defined Networking, System and Network Administration, Computer Architecture, Secure Software Systems, Cryptography and Secure Communications, Access Control, IT Forensics, Sustainable/Green Networking, and DevOps. Relevant industry experience; teaching experience, especially at the undergraduate level; and/or experience in Online and Hybrid course delivery will be considered assets. Ontario Tech is a technology-enhanced learning environment, and the candidate must be expected to have skills in the integration of technology into teaching and to model those skills in their own teaching in the University's web-centric and mobile learning environment. Duties will include preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, and workshops, preparing and marking assignments, tests and examinations, responding to student inquiries in a timely way, maintaining regular office hours, and invigilating tests and examinations. Duties may include the supervision of teaching assistant(s). The successful candidate will be expected to follow a 70% teaching, 20% service, and 10% other workload for the year.
