Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced End-to-End Charging System Design Engineer to design, implement, and optimize charging and billing solutions across telecom or digital service platforms. The role involves working across Online Charging Systems (OCS), billing systems, mediation layers, and service platforms to ensure accurate rating, charging, and revenue assurance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Charging Architecture & Design
- Design and implement end-to-end charging solutions covering prepaid, postpaid, and hybrid billing models.
- Define architecture for real-time and offline charging flows.
- Integrate charging platforms with network elements, digital services, and billing systems.
2. System Integration
- Integrate charging systems with:
- Network elements (e.g., GGSN/PGW/SMF, SMSC, IMS)
- Mediation platforms
- CRM and billing systems
- Payment gateways and digital services
- Ensure seamless data flow from service usage → mediation → rating → billing.
3. Charging Logic & Configuration
- Design rating rules, charging policies, and tariff structures.
- Configure product catalog, pricing plans, bundles, and promotions.
- Implement real-time charging policies for voice, data, SMS, and digital services.
4. Performance & Scalability
- Optimize charging system performance for high transaction volumes.
- Ensure low latency real-time charging.
- Design high-availability and failover mechanisms.
5. Testing & Validation
- Develop and execute end-to-end charging test scenarios.
- Validate charging accuracy across:
- Usage events
- Rating
- Balance deduction
- Billing generation
- Collaborate with QA teams for system validation.
6. Revenue Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure accurate revenue capture and prevent revenue leakage.
- Support audit and compliance requirements.
- Work with revenue assurance teams to validate charging logic.
7. Documentation & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Create design documents, system flows, and integration diagrams.
- Work with product, network, IT, and operations teams.
- Support production deployments and troubleshooting.
Required Skills
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of telecom charging architecture
- Experience with Online Charging System (OCS) and Billing platforms
- Understanding of protocols:
- Diameter
- HTTP/REST APIs
- SS7 / CAMEL (optional)
- Knowledge of mediation systems
- SQL and database concepts
- Microservices architecture (preferred)
Domain Knowledge
- Telecom services:
- Voice
- Data
- SMS
- VAS / digital services
- Prepaid and postpaid billing models
- Rating, charging, and balance management
Tools / Platforms (Examples)
Experience with charging/billing platform:
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related field
- 10+ years experience in telecom charging or billing system design
- Experience working with telecom operators or system integrators
Preferred Skills
- Cloud-based charging systems (Kubernetes, containers)
- API-based charging architecture
- Experience with 5G charging architecture and policy control
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams
- Good documentation and communication skills
