Position Summary: Imagination Crew members support a variety of interactive roles throughout the Museum, including operating exhibits such as Susie’s Station train, facilitating activities on the interactive LED floor, assisting children with sorting and matching in the Hy-Vee Grocery Store exhibit, and encouraging exploration of the Super Gravitron. In addition, team members maintain a positive and engaging learning environment by resetting, cleaning, and organizing hands-on exhibits throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities:

40% - Engage guests in play-based learning experience throughout the museum

  • Individually interact with Guests to provide a personalized experience within the museum and meet their needs
  • Ensure the safety of all guests and staff
  • Work with leadership on ways to utilize play-based learning initiatives to create engaging interactions with guests
  • Address issues that arise from guest concerns, as appropriate

30% - Perform daily operations needed to operate museum successfully and safely 

  • Conduct daily safety checks of exhibits and guest-facing spaces and report any concerns to management.
  • Perform open and closing checklists
  • Perform required daily cleanings of exhibit pieces, components, and costumes
  • Notify management of any supply needs in a timely manner
  • Assist in preparing the Museum for upcoming special events, including setting up decorations and creating sample crafts.
  • Follow all internal protocol for opening and closing museum, including some rentals and special events

30% - Regularly assist in the resetting of exhibit components for museum guests

  • Regularly replace exhibit components after guests finish playing with them
  • Restock exhibit components when items are worn out and need replacing
  • Communicate the condition of the museum and its exhibits to appropriate departments to ensure issues are addressed in a timely manner

  • Demonstrate initiative by proactively identifying and completing tasks and supporting team operations.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.

 

Physical Qualification: 

  • Stand and walk for extended periods to engage with visitors and program participants
  • Navigate different areas of the Museum to assist visitors and ensure a positive experience
  • Bend, stoop, and reach, crawl, climb, pinch, grasp
  • Perform repetitive tasks, including administrative work and designing resources using computer software programs
  • Push or pull equipment, such as a small flatbed and wheeled cases
  • Lift and carry items up to 50 pounds

 

 

Compensation: $15.00 / hour; not eligible for benefits
