About the Role:

The Prepress Technician I plays a critical role in the manufacturing process by preparing and ensuring the accuracy of print materials before production. This position involves working closely with design and production teams to convert digital files into print-ready formats, ensuring color fidelity, layout precision, and adherence to technical specifications. The technician is responsible for troubleshooting and resolving prepress issues, maintaining equipment, and supporting quality control to minimize errors and waste. This role requires a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of printing technologies to facilitate smooth transitions from digital design to physical output. Ultimately, the Prepress Technician I helps ensure that final printed products meet the highest standards of quality and consistency, contributing to overall customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years experience and basic knowledge of prepress processes and printing technology.
  • Experience with graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator, or InDesign.
  • Familiarity with file formats and color management principles.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or certification in graphic arts, printing technology, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or print production environment.
  • Proficiency with RIP software and plate-making equipment.
  • Understanding of various printing methods including offset and digital printing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review digital files for print production, ensuring accuracy in layout, color, and resolution.
  • Operate and maintain prepress equipment such as scanners, proofers, and plate setters.
  • Collaborate with graphic designers and production staff to resolve file issues and optimize print quality.
  • Perform quality checks on proofs and plates to detect and correct errors before printing.
  • Manage file archiving and documentation to maintain organized records of print jobs.
  • Assist in troubleshooting technical problems related to prepress workflows and equipment.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.

Skills:

The required skills enable the Prepress Technician I to accurately prepare and verify print files, ensuring that all technical specifications are met before production. Proficiency in graphic design software is essential for editing and adjusting files to achieve optimal print quality. Knowledge of color management and file formats helps prevent costly errors and ensures consistency across print runs. Preferred skills such as experience with RIP software and plate-making equipment enhance the technician's ability to operate specialized machinery efficiently. Strong problem-solving and communication skills are used daily to collaborate with team members and resolve any issues that arise during the prepress process, ensuring smooth workflow and high-quality output.


Working hours are Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm. Flexibility with working days and hours is required to meet customer demands.
8+ hours per working day excluding breaks.
