Title: Improvement Engineer

Location: Freeport, TX

Salary: $102,000 - $143,000

Schedule: 9/80s or 5-8's

Relocation Available

Focus: The Improvement Engineer leads the Epoxy plant-level improvement process by gathering and analyzing data, evaluating improvement opportunities, and implementing improvement projects. This role ensures plant improvements align with business objectives via the Plant Specific Technology Plan to close performance and reliability gaps, reduce costs, and increase productivity (capacity creep, reliability, etc). In addition, the Improvement Engineer provides expense and capital project support.

The Freeport site is the single largest chlor alkali complex in the world with more than 1,000 employees. The chemical products produced at our Freeport location include chlorine and caustic soda, vinyls, epoxies, chlorinated organics, aromatics, bleach, hydrogen, and hydrochloric acid.

Improvement Engineer Essential Job Functions:

  • Recommends and /or analyzes materials, equipment, and practices used in the plant operating areas.
  • Analyzes equipment, systems, processes, and systems to identify modifications to improve efficiency, increase quality, and reduce costs.
  • Ensures compliance with codes, guidelines, best practices, and policies.
  • Collaborates with operations to identify and troubleshoot problems.
  • Collaborates with improvement engineers from other plants to share problems and solutions.
  • Ensures regulatory and responsible care compliance via operating discipline. Provides technical support to projects.

Improvement Engineer Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree* in Engineering; Chemical or Mechanical engineering preferred
  • 1+ years of experience in project management, production engineering or other related field. Epoxy experience preferred.
  • Experience with managing vendor proposals and quotations, contractor bids and development of desired solutions for projects preferred.
  • Experience evaluating and reducing fixed costs (including costs associated with raw material and utility usage) preferred
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of OSHA 1910.119 PSM standard preferred.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Prior Olin experience in a related role preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and possess a valid US Driver's license.
