JOB DESCRIPTION – TEACHER
POSITION SUMMARY

Supervisor: School Board & Principal
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following job duties and responsibilities are essential functions of the position, in addition to any duties as may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time:
Implement and engage students in the instructional program
Supervise students as assigned
Actively participate in professional development
Maintain up-to-date records and provide necessary documentation of student work
Instruct students in a classroom setting and foster classroom atmosphere conducive to learning
Develop and implement appropriate and effective lesson plans and curriculum that align to California Common Core State Standards to achieve instructional objectives and employ a variety of instructional strategies to augment student achievement
Monitor and record student attendance
Determine and implement student disciplinary and remedial measures and maintain appropriate records of the same
Evaluate students and grade their work
Prepare students for and implement testing (CAASPP, ELPAC, PFT, etc.)
Maintain professional relationships with parents, students, co-workers and other stakeholders
Maintain regular contact with parents through parent-teacher conferences, telephone, or written/electronic communications
Encourage parental involvement
Adhere to established laws, policies, rules and regulations, including those policies and procedures adopted by OTA
