What you’ll do at DBH

This position is the primary contact for communication among personnel, visitors, and clients at Appalachian Behavioral Healthcare (ABH). Key responsibilities include communication, access control, and information management. Additional duties are as follows:
  • Operates communication equipment professionally and courteously, directing calls and messages to the appropriate personnel or departments
  • Dispatches personnel and equipment as required, and relays or clarifies information as needed
  • Operates overhead paging systems and monitors alarms for fire, pharmacy, and weather, etc.
  • Maintains written and digital logs of staff activity, client movement, and assigned duties
  • Provides directions and greets visitors in person or by phone, including dignitaries and delivery personnel, etc.
  • Oversee & issue passes and tags for all visitors and contractors
  • Attends required training sessions to improve skills and knowledge relevant to the role and follows agency policies on computer and software usage

This is an hourly position covered by the OCSEA/AFSCME bargaining unit (union), with a pay range of #5 on the OCSEA Pay Range Schedule. Normal working hours are Monday - Friday, afternoon shift. This position is located within our Appalachian Behavioral Healthcare Campus at 100 Hospital Drive, Athens, Ohio 45701.

Unless required by any applicable union contract and/or requirements of the Ohio Revised Code, the selected candidate will begin at Step 1 of the pay range schedule listed above, with an opportunity for pay increase after six months of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.

Additional Salary / Appointment Information:

  • Must be able to complete a 4 week full time orientation (Will include 1st and 2nd shift)
  • May be exposed to communicable diseases and unpredictable patient behavior
  • Training and development required to remain in the classification after employment
