Assist in key accounting functions: Budget, Financial Forecast and Projection process and member power billings. Assist with the preparation of accounting records and budget information for Buckeye Power, Inc., Ohio Rural Electric Cooperatives, Inc. (OREC) and other related corporations. Develop and maintain adequate records and files of related transactions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the Budgeting, Financial Forecast and Projection models. Responsibilities include distribution of information requests to various internal departments, collection of departmental data for inclusion into the budget / forecast / projection models, update the model on an as needed basis and provide appropriate departmental communications.
- Assist in the preparation of the monthly wholesale power billing to Buckeye’s member cooperative systems. Coordinate billings with Market Operations Department and the various transmission providers. Work with the Senior Accountant – Billing and software developers on programs that gather data and produce the bill.
- Work with the Load Management Department to manage and reconcile inventory accounts, track and record fixed assets and process member reimbursement requests for radio control switches.
- Participate in monthly accounting processes.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and associated financial analysis for the companies.
- Prepare schedules, analysis, answers audit inquiries and provides recommendations, as necessary, during the annual audit of the companies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree required in accounting, finance, or business administration is required.
Experience:
Three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible accounting experience desired.
- Must have a working knowledge of accounting principles and procedures. Must be proficient in the use of personal computer applications.
- Proficient use of computer and standard office equipment.
- Relevant on-the-job experience or education over and above the requirement described above may be substituted for part of the experience requirement.
Abilities & Skills Required:
- Must be able to apply accounting principles.
- Must be able to organize work and set priorities.
- Must be proficient in appropriate office support software and applications, including, but not limited to; Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must have discretion of confidential data and information.
- Highly motivated and action-oriented individual.
- Must have good grammar and spelling skills and telephone technique.
Physical Requirements
Frequent: Sedentary work, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods, close visual acuity, work with a computer, keyboard, communicate with others.
Periodic: Lift objects of nominal weight.
Work Environment
Onsite with occasional travel out-of-office is required. Work outside normal business hours is required when needed.
