About the Job
OffSec is seeking a visionary, results-oriented Director of Brand & Communications to serve as the primary storyteller and strategic engine for our global identity. In this role, you will be the guardian of the "Gold Standard" in cybersecurity, ensuring that our "Think Like an Attacker" philosophy is woven into every customer touchpoint—from individual lab environments to global CISO summits.
Reporting to the Head/VP of Marketing, you will manage a multidisciplinary organization including Creative/Graphic Design, Social Media, Content, Field Events, Community, and Public Relations. Your mission is to bridge internal technical innovation with external audience engagement, productizing our internal expertise into a market-facing narrative that fuels OffSec’s growth and establishes us as the definitive voice in the AI-native security era.
Duties and responsibilities
1. Narrative Architecture & Strategic Messaging
The Single Source of Truth: Shape and own the company’s global narrative. You will architect the strategic messaging that identifies and brings to life OffSec’s "Big Ideas," ensuring a cohesive brand voice across social media, integrated campaigns, and corporate communications.
Productizing Expertise: Lead regular sessions with Product and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to extract technical insights. Your team will transform these "in-the-weeds" technicalities into sophisticated thought leadership, research reports, and multimedia content.
GTM Alignment: Partner with Product Marketing and Demand Generation to ensure the brand narrative is synchronized with campaigns and product launches and revenue targets.
2. Multidisciplinary Team Leadership
Creative & Graphic Design: Lead the internal design house to produce world-class visual assets. Ensure OffSec’s aesthetic remains elite, consistent, and reflective of a professional brand.
Content & Social Media: Oversee the global editorial calendar and social strategy. Transition beyond "status updates" to drive technical authority, community engagement, and viral storytelling within the infosec space.
Community & Field Events: Direct the vision for how the brand "shows up" in the real world—from technical Discord communities to high-stakes dinners for CISOs and premier industry stages like Black Hat and RSAC.
Public Relations & Earned Media: Manage the PR engine to secure top-tier media coverage and analyst recognition. Ensure OffSec’s reputation is managed with precision, positioning our leadership as the primary voices in the global cyber conversation.
3. Brand Governance & Global Consistency
Internal/External Bridge: Act as the primary filter for brand consistency. You will ensure that every internal team is aligned with the external brand promise.
Global Synergy: Act as a marketing bridge for international markets to ensure a unified global presence while allowing for regional nuance.
4. Executive Positioning & Visibility
Executive Visibility: Partner with executive leadership to amplify their external profiles. You will prep senior colleagues for high-stakes interviews, panels, and presentations, ensuring OffSec’s point of view is sharp, competitive, and beyond reproach.
The "Scrappy Executive" Mentality
This role requires a leader who is both senior and scrappy. You are expected to sit at the table to architect a strategic roadmap, but you must possess the resourceful, hands-on work ethic needed to dive into the weeds of a PR pitch, a design layout, or a content script to push projects across the finish line yourself. No task is too small if it helps tell our story.
Qualifications
What You Bring to the Team
Experience: 10+ years of brand, creative, or editorial leadership in a technically complex B2B industry (Cybersecurity or high-growth SaaS preferred).
Leadership Mastery: Proven experience managing high-output teams across Creative, Social, Content, Events, Community, and PR.
Editorial Pedigree: A background in copywriting and editing. You are a "content-first" thinker who understands how to tell a story that moves the needle.
Technical Literacy: You understand the cybersecurity landscape and can speak the language of our technical audience. You can translate "exploit-speak" into strategic business risk for the C-suite.
Demand Gen Mindset: You view brand as a tool for revenue; you have experience mapping brand awareness and engagement to MQLs and qualified pipeline.
Working conditions
This role is a full-time salaried position. Work hours for this position are flexible and will be performed from a home office.
