Construction is one of the largest industries in the world, yet many of its most critical workflows still run on spreadsheets, manual processes, and legacy systems. Lumber is changing that through AI-native agents that automate operational workflows for contractors and improve the experience of both payroll administrators and field workers.
Our AI agents handle workflows like:
- Union compliance
- Prevailing wage calculations
- Timesheet processing

We integrate with major construction ERPs and payroll systems to become the intelligent automation layer for the industry.
Role Overview
The Office of the CEO role is a high-impact position that works directly with the CEO on strategy, operations, product initiatives, and key partnerships. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment and enjoys solving ambiguous problems. You will help drive critical initiatives across the company, ensuring the CEO’s priorities are executed effectively.
Think of this role as a force multiplier for the CEO — someone who can translate strategic ideas into execution.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Initiatives
- Partner closely with the CEO on company-level strategic initiatives.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis in construction technology and AI automation.
- Develop internal strategy memos and executive briefings.
- Identify new opportunities for growth, partnerships, and product expansion.
CEO Office Operations
- Drive execution on CEO priorities across product, sales, partnerships, and operations.
- Prepare materials for board meetings, investor updates, and strategic discussions.
- Coordinate cross-functional initiatives that require CEO oversight.
Product & Customer Insights
- Work with product and engineering teams to translate customer feedback into product priorities.
- Participate in key customer calls and industry meetings to gather insights.
- Help shape new AI automation workflows based on contractor needs.
Partnerships & Ecosystem
- Support development of partnerships with:
- Construction contractors
- ERP providers
- Payroll platforms
- Industry associations
- Assist in structuring and executing strategic collaborations.
Special Projects
- Lead high-impact projects directly sponsored by the CEO.
- Build operational frameworks for scaling the company.
- Identify process improvements across the organization.
What We're Looking For
Experience
- 3–7 years of experience in:
- Consulting
- Strategy roles
- Startup operations
- Product strategy
- Investment firms or venture funds
- Experience working in fast-growing startups is highly preferred.
