Welcome to District 31!
District 31 consists of two schools: Winkelman Elementary School serves preschool through 5th grade students. Field Middle School serves students 6th through 8th grade. District boundaries include portions of Glenview and Northbrook, as well as some areas of unincorporated Cook County. Both schools have won the coveted Blue Ribbon Award from the United States Department of Education and other honors.
The District houses approximately 905 children who speak over 25 languages and a talented, diverse staff to support our mission of inclusiveness. Class sizes range between 15 and 22. The school day, schedule, teaching practices and educational setting at both Winkelman and Field Schools are tailored to best provide a developmentally appropriate, yet rigorous learning environment meeting the unique needs of every learner.
Programs are available to provide extra challenge and enrichment as well as additional support. Hands-on learning and stimulating educational experiences provide students with varied opportunities to interact meaningfully with the material. Technology is used as a tool to support instruction and further enhance the learning experience. iPads are provided to every student in grades K – 2nd, and Chromebooks are provided to every student in grades 3rd through 8th.nd Social and emotional learning is also emphasized. BUSINESS OFFICE ACCOUNTING COORDINATOR
REPORTS TO: Director of Finance and Operations
Work Calendar: 12 Months
Status: Exempt - Non-Union/Confidential - IMRF
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Business Office Accounting Coordinator supports the district's financial operations by maintaining
accurate accounting records, processing financial transactions, preparing required reports, and assisting
with grant management, purchasing, and compliance reporting. This position helps ensure the efficient
operation of the Business Office by supporting audits, reconciliations, and required state and federal
reporting while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and adherence to district policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE - KNOWLEDGE:
● Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, business, bookkeeping, or related field preferred
● Minimum of five years of related school or office experience required
● Courses in accounting, business, or bookkeeping preferred
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace, and experience with student
information systems and other various financial management software.
● Good written and verbal communication skills required.
● Ability to organize information and problem-solve complex situations.
● Strong interpersonal skills.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The tasks listed below are representative of the essential performance responsibilities expected of the
Executive Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent, District Office, and Board Secretary.
● Maintain accurate financial records for grant reporting and prepare required monthly, quarterly,
and annual grant expenditure reports to ensure compliance with grant requirements.
● Collect and review financial aid documents, perform calculations for CSBO review, and maintain
applicant lists.
● Manage student fees, accounts receivable, payment processing, petty cash, and generate any
associated reports.
● Complete monthly bank reconciliations, including preparation of the Treasurer’s Report, general
ledger summaries, and investment reports, ensuring accuracy across all district accounts.
● Process and manage purchase orders in Skyward, ensuring proper approvals, accurate entry,
and maintenance of supporting documentation.
● Coordinate and assist with the district’s procurement processes, order tracking, vendor
coordination, and compliance with district purchasing policies.

● Coordinate procurement processes as assigned, including preparing RFPs/RFQs, such as copier
paper bids, and related purchasing documentation.
● Prepare financial reports, communications, and supporting documentation to provide timely and
accurate information to administration and the Board of Education.
● Collect, review, and process procurement card (P-Card) statements, ensuring proper
documentation and compliance with district procedures.
● Assist with internal and external audits by compiling required records, responding to requests,
and supporting compliance with audit standards.
● Coordinate communication between the Business Office and district personnel regarding financial
documentation, payroll changes, extra duty contracts, and items requiring Board approval.
● Provide backup support for payroll, accounts payable, and district office phone coverage as
needed.
● Maintain current knowledge of financial and business office systems, including Skyward,
Business Solver, and other related software.
● Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent, CSBO, or designee to support the
efficient operation of the district’s business services.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and talk or
hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by
this job include close vision, such as to read type or handwritten material. The noise level in the work
environment is usually quiet. The employee is continuously interacting with staff.
