Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Occupational Therapist role based at Anbalaya Special School in Chennai. The Occupational Therapist will assess children’s physical, sensory, and cognitive abilities, and develop individualized therapy plans to support their daily functioning and independence. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting therapy sessions, using evidence-based techniques, monitoring progress, and documenting treatment plans and outcomes. The role involves close collaboration with special educators, medical professionals, families, and caregivers to integrate therapy goals into school and home environments. The Occupational Therapist will also contribute to awareness-building and caregiver training, and participate in multidisciplinary meetings to improve overall rehabilitation services.
Qualifications
- Strong skills and formal training in Occupational Therapy, with experience in assessment, intervention planning, and rehabilitation.
- Understanding of Medicine and Rehabilitation principles relevant to differently-abled children and individuals.
- Competence in Pediatrics, including child development, pediatric disabilities, and family-centered care.
- Effective Communication skills for working with children, families, caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Recognized degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution; relevant registration or licensure as required.
- Experience in special education or working with differently-abled populations is highly beneficial.
- Ability to work collaboratively, maintain accurate records, and adapt interventions to diverse cultural and socioeconomic contexts.
- Commitment to ethical practice, empathy, and continuous professional development.
