Job Summary
Reporting to Cleaning Services Manager, the Cleaning Services A performs a broad range of cleaning services necessary to maintain the college campus or facility in a clean and orderly condition for effective use by students, faculty and the public. Maintains areas of buildings in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition. Provides information and otherwise assists students, faculty, and the public using campus facilities.
This position is represented for purposes of collective bargaining by Teamsters.
Job Duties
- 75% - Primary hands-on responsibility for maintaining clean, safe, and sanitary facilities includes daily cleaning and sanitation of restrooms and general facility areas, sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, and servicing fixtures. It also includes carpet care, floor refinishing, polishing, and the use of cleaning equipment; dusting furniture, fixtures, and building surfaces; moving and setting up furniture and equipment as needed; maintaining overall building cleanliness and safety standards; and performing supplementary duties that support facility cleanliness and function. - (Essential)
- 15% - Supports operational continuity and team effectiveness by providing daily guidance and support to Cleaning Services staff. This includes communicating assignments and reinforcing procedures, coordinating and distributing cleaning supplies while monitoring inventory, and managing laundry operations to ensure material availability. The role also involves acting as an on-site point of contact for contractors and service providers, as well as promoting teamwork and maintaining professional relationships with the campus community. - (Essential)
- 10% - Ensures compliance and protects facility integrity by applying safety, sanitation, and health standards in all work areas. Will secure and lock assigned areas to maintain facility security, identifying and reporting maintenance issues and safety concerns, and supporting compliance with campus safety expectations. - (Essential)
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and communicate verbally and in writing in English.
- One year of cleaning and/or maintenance experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Successful completion of a Cleaning Services course.
- Six months of recent full-time cleaning service experience.
EXPECTED HIRING RANGE: The starting base hourly rate for this position is $20.75/hr. After 6 months, the base hourly rate increases to $21.14/hr, and after 12 months, the base hourly rate increases to $21.65/hr.
