Job Qualifications
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with appropriate content area endorsement (ESL)
- Experience working with English Learners (ELs) is preferred but not required
- Bilingual Spanish or Arabic preferred
Direct Supervisor
Director of English Learner Programs/Building Principal, may receive assignments from designated personnel as required.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Demonstrate support for the Mission, Vision, and Goals of the Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123.
- Uphold the established Board of Education policies, regulations, and administrative procedures.
- Plan and implement appropriate instruction using methods and materials which are most appropriate for meeting district goals and objectives.
- Utilize research-based best practices to instruct ELs in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
- Evaluate students on a regular basis and provide reports as required.
- Create a classroom and school environment that is conducive to learning and is age appropriate.
- Administer assessments and maintain student records in accordance with ISBE requirements.
- Communicate and cooperate with colleagues, students, parents, and the community as needed to meet professional standards.
- Maintain and improve professional competence.
- Apply student learning theory, brain-based learning, and differentiated instruction.
- Participate in meetings and perform other responsibilities as assigned by the principal or designee in accordance with the contract and Board of Education.
- Utilize technology to promote learning, creativity, collaboration.
- Ability to sit/stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.

Evaluation
Performance in this position will be evaluated by the Director of English Learner Programs/Building Principal in accordance with the Board of Education's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
