Job purpose
This position reports to the Director of Manufacturing Engineering. It is a salaried position. The Manufacturing Engineer designs, implements, and reviews processes and procedures for all aspects of manufacturing: Manufacturing, Assembly, Tooling, and Special Processes. Responsible for all manufacturing documentation including op sheets, ECNs, and maintaining the ERP system.
Duties and responsibilities
- Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing and validating product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
- Designing and implementing assembly lines to meet production schedules utilizing lean and ergonomic techniques.
- Special processes including heat treat, laser marking, anodizing, black oxide, grit blast, welding, brazing, cleaning, and others.
- Work with operations and CNC programmers to improve processes and verify process control. Researching automation techniques, testing new systems for efficiency and planning factory layouts to optimize production.
- Work closely with Tool Design to ensure the proper machining techniques are being used.
- Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred (Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical) or equivalent experience
- CAD experience - 3D modeling of complex parts: 5 years (Required)
- Blueprint Reading and GD&T: 1 year (Required)
- Firearms knowledge a plus
- Solidworks: 1 year (Preferred)
- Microsoft Suite – Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project
- CNC machining knowledge preferred
- Laser Marking programming a plus
- Robot programming a plus (Nachi, Yaskawa, Fanuc)
- Metrology tools & processes of part inspection: 1 year (Required)
- Excellent blueprint reading skills & through understanding of GD&T
- Experienced with metrology tools & processes for part inspection.
- Excellent communication skills, math skills and attention to detail
- Must have knowledge of fixture and gage design and function
- Must have good problem-solving skills
- Solidworks experience a definite plus

Working conditions
- Office environment within a manufacturing facility.
- Shop floor support will be required
Physical requirements
- Must be able to move, lift, transport items at minimum of 20 lbs.
- Must be able to consistently operate a computer/office productivity machinery i.e., calculator, copy machine, printer for a minimum of 6 hours per day.
- Must be able to remain stationary for a minimum of 2 hours per day.
- Must be able to detect and correct errors on paper/screens.
- Must be able to communicate and exchange information with other members of the organization verbally, nonverbally, and in writing.
- Must be able to move throughout the facility and office area to access file cabinets, office equipment, plant machinery, and other office areas as needed.
