Our Grand Rapids MI location is currently seeking a Safety Specialist. This role is responsible for assisting in monitoring and coordinating environmental health and safety programs, including safety inspections, accident investigations, and safety training. Additional tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Owning company-wide safety programs such as lockout/tagout, confined space entry, fire protection, and other OSHA safety and environmental compliance programs.
  • Being an advisor regarding safety protocols and procedures to ensure the safety of associates about regulatory compliance as mandated by local, state, and federal agencies, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA).
  • Performing hazard analyses and recommending mitigation procedures.
  • Conducting routine and follow-up environmental health, safety, and hazard inspections.
  • Responding to emergency situations involving hazardous materials, fire and smoke incidents, or unknown hazards; prepare reports of findings and submitting recommendations.
  • Analyzing accident and incident reports for trends; makes recommendations for correcting unsafe conditions and actions.
  • Co-owning the safety culture and strategy in becoming world class in safety.


Educational and Technical Requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental, health and safety or equivalent is required.
  • 1 year (i.e. internship) preferably in a manufacturing environment is required.
